Biography
John Fitzsimons is a painter and printmaker from Dublin, born in 1974. His work deals with an aspiration of balance and harmony within society and our destructive relationship with the earth.
He graduated from the Dun Laoghaire Institute of Design, Art and Technology (IADT) with an honours degree in fine art in 2000.
He was a member of the Graphic Studio Dublin from 1995 to 2008. He regularly showed work in the Graphic Studio Gallery as well as in various other galleries around Ireland.
Since 2006, John has been working for Stoney Road Press editioning art. Amongst the artists that he has had the privilege to work with and learn from at Stoney Road Press, John has been particularly influenced by Patrick Scott and Brian O’Doherty.
John also teaches a painting course with the VEC.
John’s work is in the collections of the Office of Public Works (OPW). The Contemporary Irish Art Society (CIAS). Dublin Castle. Deloitte, Ireland. The Georgian Society Dublin. The National Botanic Gardens. Ulster Bank. Royal Marine Hotel, Dun Laoghaire. Ballynahinch Castle, Galway. Unither Pharmaceuticals, USA and many private collections.
