Biography
Dublin born, Gråinne Cuffe graduated in Fine Art from the Institute of Art and Design, Dun Laoghaire, in 1979. Her post graduate training was in etching and lithography at both Graphic Studio Dublin and Black Church Print Studio Dublin. She has been honoured with many awards throughout her career including a Fulbright Scholarship to study Lithography at Tamarind Institute, New Mexico, an Italian Government Scholarship to study etching under Giorgio Upiglio in Milan and an Irish Arts Council award to work and lecture in Vastervick, Sweden. She is a member of Graphic Studio Dublin and Fins Graefisk Vaerksted, Denmark. Cuffe exhibits regularly in group shows at Graphic Studio Gallery, Dublin. She is also a frequent exhibitor at the Royal Hibernian Academy Summer show, and the Royal Academy Summer Show, Picadilly, London. Her work is held in many collections including the Office of Public Works, Arts Council of Ireland, Chester Beatty Library, and Dublin City University. Gráinne Cuffe specialises in intricate studies of plants, many of them on a very large scale, with a strong emphasis on their colours.
