Biography
Amelia Stein, RHA, the photographer lives and works in Dublin where she was born in 1958. Over the past 30 years Amelia Stein has established herself as a singularly exacting photographer whose work is characterized by meticulous attention to detail in tandem with the attributes of fine black and white photographic printing, many of the images having a theatrical presence.
Her area of expertise has been portraiture, working with actors, performers, playwrights, poets, authors and musicians on commissioned images, production photography in Irish theatre, opera and the music industry. Many of these images have had world wide exposure. In 2006, she was elected a member of Aosdana, the first photographer ever to be elected to that body. She is a member of the Royal Hibernian Academy. Her work is in numerous private and public collections including the Irish Museum of Modern Art and Office of Public Works Ireland.
