Biography

Aghajanian was born in Haifa in 1943. She studied at Brighton College of Art, from 1966 – 67 and also at Ravensbourne College of Art and Design, London from 1962-66. She now lives in Belfast where she works from the Belfast Print Workshop. A painter as well as a printmaker, she focuses on the tension between light and dark, interpreting the reflection of her subject into an entirely new creation. Sophie Aghajanian has exhibited work at the Curwen Gallery, the RUA, Listowel Graphics and the Tom Caldwell Gallery. Her work is in the collection of the Ulster Museum and the Arts Council. Aghajanian was elected RUA Academician in 1987.
