Biography

Michael Timmins was born in Dublin, he graduated from the Dublin Institute of Technology in 1999 with an honours degree in Fine Art (Printmaking). In 2000 he was offered the position of studio technician. He has worked in all print media but has recently been concentrating in the medium of lithography. He has exhibited widely both in Ireland and abroad, his work is included in private and public collections. In 2003 he travelled to Saint Johns in Newfoundland, Canada on an exchange with St. Michael’s Printshop where he worked for an intensive three week period making Lithographs. In 2007/2008 he completed the renowned Tamarind Institute’s printer-training programme in New Mexico, USA, and in 2008 was the Press Assistant in Landfall Press, New Mexico. In June 2012, he set up Independent Editions in Dublin which is a platform for artists who wish to work in the medium of lithography, it also provides a mentoring service for printmakers and offers workshops. He is currently a member of Graphic Studio Dublin and the Black Church Print Studio. He shows regularly at the annual Royal Hibernian Academy Exhibition.
