Biography
Leo Higgins is an Irish sculptor born in Dublin in 1951. He is a founder member of the Sculptor’s Society of Ireland (now Visual Artists Ireland). He lectures part-time at the National College of Art and Design, Dublin and is a Director of CAST Bronze Foundry in Dublin. Winner of the Oireachtas Prize for Sculpture in 1984 and 1985, Higgins has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions throughout Ireland, including the Royal Hibernian Academy and Sculpture in Context, Dublin. Large public commissions include ‘Justice’ for the new Criminal Courts in Dublin and ‘Riverrun’ for the UNESCO/Dublin City of Literature Library Garden. His work is in the collections of Allied Irish Bank, Bank of Ireland, Irish Life, Memorex Computers, the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Aer Rianta, and Dublin Airport, Denisco.
