It’s Not Dark Yet

Eoin Francis McCormack
Solo Exhibition 2022

12 March – 9 April, 2022
All unsold works will be available from our ONLINE SHOP.

Eoin Francis McCormack’s unique and striking works will be on show in SO Fine Art Editions this March. McCormack questions what it is to be an artist during these uncertain times. Most comfortable with the visual language of painting, McCormack concerns himself with the relentless nature of the studio’s pull and focuses on how the artwork he makes in the confines of his studio might impact on those who view them.

McCormack’s practice concerns painting and print processes interpreted in paint. The artist’s hand or lack thereof is an ongoing theme in his work. ‘It’s Not Dark Yet’ is the first time he will show paintings made with elements of the brush. It is a show of two halves in many ways with the black and white work on paper representing notions of industry, cityscapes and steam engines, while the larger work on canvas is more vibrant in colour and speaks to the viewer about the beauty of the natural world. The work is fundamentally abstract in nature but this new series is the most conceptually representational work McCormack has made to date.

Eoin Francis McCormack received his BA (Hons) from the Limerick School of Art and Design in 2010, and followed up with his MFA (Hons) from Edinburgh College of Art in 2014. Born in Co. Westmeath, he is currently living and working in Ireland. McCormack has work in private and public collections all over the world. Along with his personal practice, McCormack is also a member of the painting lecturing staff at Limerick School of Art and Design (Tús).
