Biography

James Allen was born in Lurgan, County Armagh. He studied at Belfast College of Art from 1961 – 1965 and at Brighton College of Art from 1965 – 1967. 
Although principally a printmaker, he is also an accomplished painter. James Allen was Printmaker in Residence at the Arts Council of Northern Ireland from 
1977 – 1980, and a full time manager of Belfast Print Workshop from 1980. His work is in the collections of international museums and companies, including the Arts Council of Great Britain, Queen’s University of Belfast, and the Telfair Museum of Georgia, USA.
