Daniel de Chenu

Biography

Daniel de Chenu is an artist and a teacher living and working in Dublin. He has studied photography, fine art media and education management and holds two Master of Arts degrees. He began his photographic career as a documentary photographer in the 1980’s holding his first exhibition in 1982. In 1986 he was awarded the Sunday Independent – Irish Life Arts award for photography. In 1987 he began teaching photography at the Dun Laoghaire School of Art and Design. His artistic practice since then has evolved to incorporate video, installation, sound and sculpture as well as photography.

He has shown his work in solo and group exhibitions in Ireland and abroad and has been the recipient of two bursaries from the Arts Council of Ireland. His work is in the collections of University College Dublin, the University of Salamanca, Guinness Ireland, the Office of Public Works, the Ark Dublin and Microsoft Ireland.
